Frequently asked questions


Here are the most common storage questions we get asked. If you’re unsure about anything call us on +971 2 554 9200 and we’ll happy to help.

Can you collect my items?

Yes we can. Please advise your location so we may visit to provide a quote. Quote will depend on size of items to be moved. Please consider there is a difference between “Collect & Deliver” and “Pack & Move” Collect & Deliver means exactly that. You need to have all of your items ready for collection, and we will deliver and unload into your storage unit for a quoted price. Pack & Move is usually for folks who require professional packing (cardboard, bubble wrap, etc) so their goods may be stored for a while and then forwarded to another city or country.

Do you offer insurance?

Yes we do. All we need from you is the value and basic description of your goods and we will come back to you within 12 hours with a quote. It is usually about 210 dhs per 30,000 dhs value of items for each 6 months.

Do you have security?

Yes, we do. We have CCTV coverage, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; recorded. We also have guys around the facility. Your storage unit is only accessible by you – no one else has the key.

Do you have climate-controlled (air-conditioned) units?

Yes, some of them are, and they do cost more than a standard storage unit.

What sort of access do I have?

You have 24/7/365 days a year access. You can come and go as you please. We just ask that you ensure the lights are turned off and the doors are locked when you leave.

Do you have large area storage?

Yes we do. Our max size storage unit available is 1,800 sqft.

Can you arrange international shipping?

Yes we can, please call us and we will give you the names of some reputable shippers our customers have used before.

Who has access to my storage?

Just you! You’re the only person with a key to your padlock. Your storage is safe, secure and totally private.

Can I have a storage unit registered as a primary place of business?

No. You must have a registered office with the municipality as your primary place of business. If you already have a registered office, you may certainly have extra storage with us.

Do you have a forklift?

Yes, we have a forklift on-site to help you with those larger items.

Can I use my storage as a workshop?

No. We supply storage only. You are not allowed to conduct manufacturing, etc.

What is the smallest storage you have?

The smallest storage option we offer are 8 sqft storage boxes which you pack and we take away. On-site we offer 12 sqft half-lockers.

What is the largest storage you have?

We offer a range of standard storage units up to 160 sqft, but we can arrange anything up to a full warehouse facility depending on your requirements.

Do you have electricity available in your units?

No. We do not. We do not want any customers to be tempted to engage in dangerous activities like grinding, welding, etc. We do however have electric lead lights available if you do require extra lighting for your move-in/move-out. There is usually plenty of light available.

Do I need to provide ID?

Yes. To book with Gulf Self Storage we’ll need from you:

  • A copy of any valid ID (passport, Emirates ID, drivers licence, etc)
  • Your contact details (name, phone, email and PO box)
Do I need to supply my own padlock?

You can either bring your own padlock, or we can supply you one for 30 dhs.

How do I pay?

Payment must be done through online payment with a registered credit card (unless otherwise approved). All customers are required to have a credit card registered with us for security.

Do you offer 24 hour access?

Yes we do! Your space is yours to access anytime, day or night.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

Yes. A one (1) month deposit is required in advance. This is fully refundable on move-out.
